August 15, 2017

Dear Parents,

Welcome to a new school year! I pray your family has had an enjoyable summer. It is hard to believe that our summer will soon be coming to end. Hopefully the summer gave your children a rest and they are ready to start our new school year.

We look forward to seeing you and your child(ren) at Meet the Teacher on August 21st. This is a time for families to meet their child’s teacher. Please do not drop your child off! This is not the first day of school. This day gives you and your child the opportunity to meet their teacher, see their classroom and to bring all those school supplies! We will also have some important information to pass along to you. There will also be the FSP hot lunch program’s applications for free or reduced lunch. Whether or not your family qualifies, it is important that the school have this information on file. It allows us to best utilize federal money for our school.

This year, we are excited to have some changes to our academic program. We will be continuing to strengthen our reading curriculum with a new program to add to our guided reading program. We will continue to challenge each child by allowing them to work at their reading level and above. Last year, kindergarten, first grade, and second grade started a new math program. This year, we were fortunate to receive a grant and we purchased the same program for our third through sixth grade. Even more exciting are the new math programs we purchased for seventh and eighth grade. Our seventh grade students will have new pre-algebra texts and eighth grade will be working in high school level algebra books.

We have some changes this year to our meals program. Due to low numbers in the morning, our breakfast program has been discontinued. We will also have a new, easier process for ordering lunches. It is important that ALL lunch orders be turned in on time. Late orders cannot be accepted. It is recommended that you turn you order in early and check your child’s backpack to make sure they turned the order in. Even if the order form is in their backpack, we cannot accept late orders. Finally, we also have a new lunch coordinator. Her name is Ms. Karen Artus. If you have any questions, she can be e-mailed at This email address is being protected from spambots. Snack program will begin on September 5, 2017
